Sparkling and stressless
Martinique
island...
No
doubt
that
you
never
had
in
mind
such
a
destination
for
diving.
However,
despite
all
those
who
only
swear
with
Maldives and Egypt diving, dives do deserve your best consideration :
•
6
to
7
sunny
hours
in
the
day.
Just
enough
for
making
explode
and
spark
the colours of the numerous corals and sponges.
•
Warm
waters
year-round
(79°F
-
26°C
as
a
minimum,
86°F
-
30°C
as
a
maximum).
•
No
temperature
difference.
Whatever
the
depth
of
your
dive,
you
will
have
to
go
through
a
fresh
current
for
feeling
a
decrease
of
temperature
of
...
horror!
2°F.
A
3mm
or
5
mm
wet
suit
will
be
ok.
And
for
the
most
cold sensitives, the hood...
•
Crystal waters year-round.
•
An
horizontal
visibility
of
more
than
33ft
(10m),
and
more
than
66ft
(20m)
for the vertical visibility. Dive lights can be left at home.
•
Calm
waters
on
the
Caribbean
side
of
the
island,
the
dived
coast.
Forget
the rough navigations, and the hard water entries.
•
A
very
changing
sea-bed
with
grassy
and
sandy
areas
(white
and
black
sand),
walls,
piles
of
rocks,
coral
reefs...
from
North
to
South,
the
caribbean
coast
offers
a
large
palette
of
settings
and
ambiances.
4
different
areas
use
to
be
dived
:
St
Pierre
-
Le
Prêcheur
with
its
black
sand
and
its
walls,
Anses
d’Arlet
with
its
rocky
slopes,
walls,
canyons,
sandy
and
grassy
areas,
the
Diamond
bay
with
its
rock
and
coral
walls,
St Luce - Le Marin with its coral reef.
•
A
strong
diversity
:
47
corals,
35
gorgons,
70
sponges,
18
sea
urchins,
3
crinoids,
7
sea
stars,
327
benthic
fishes,
200
grasses,
2
sea
turtles,
113
crustaceans...
Diving in Anses d’Arlet
The diving area of Anses d’Arlet, this is :
•
The calmest surface conditions of Martinique island.
•
Less than 5 min of boating to reach the Burgos point. An
uneven sea-bed with large and small walls, stretches of
sand and grass, a quick access to dizzy depths, the
largest density of fishes between Fort de France and the
Diamond bay.
•
Less than 10 min of boating to reach Cape Salomon and
the point “La baleine”. An homogeneous sea-bed
composed of rocky slopes. A wide coral and sponge
diversity.
•
At 10 min of boating, the only wreck in the south of the
island. The Nahoon, a three mast wreck sunk by a depth
of 115ft (35m).
•
More than 20 min of boating to reach the Diamond bay
and especially its rock, which holes, the coral and grassy
slopes and its huge crack make the dive so amazing and
spectacular.
